More and more strollers, large and small, are rolling into the pedestrian world. Sales in the United States were amazing last year and the market is only expected to keep growing.

In the mid-1960’s and for decades, were the lightweight umbrella strollers, not including the Baby Jogger that arrived on the scene in the mid-1980’s. The S.U.V.-stroller frenzy ignited a few years ago.

Double jogging strollers are great assets to have to cart around your children, and to get a great workout too. There are so many double jogging strollers out there – how do you choose which is right for you? You should start by learning about the features and components of these strollers.

A good double jogging stroller should not only come with two passenger seats, but it should come with a lot of other features that allow for a good, smooth run. These strollers are specially designed to go over rugged terrain, and allow for smooth turns around corners.

In general, jogging strollers have a welded metal frame and high quality wheels. They generally come with three wheels – two in the back, and one in the front. To make running comfortable, the front wheel should be fixed. Some of the higher quality and more expensive strollers come with a front wheel that swivels when being used casually, but can then lock in place when you want to go for a run.

Good double jogging strollers will have passenger seats that are wide and high, and are capable of reclining all the way down in case your children need a nap. The seat should not be too high off the ground. Make sure you purchase a stroller that meets the weight requirement of your children. You don’t want to end up with a model that can’t accommodate the weight of your kids!

A 5-point harness is very important for the safety of your children. This is a series of straps that holds your babies in their seats securely. The straps should be padded, and can be easily locked and unlocked – but not easy enough for your kids to do so!

Brakes are another feature to look closely at. Some of the more expensive models come with three types of brakes, others come with two, and the lower end models come with one. The hand brakes allow you to stop the stroller with brakes that are mounted on the handle bars for quick stopping. If you are going downhill, or are going very fast, it may not completely halt the stroller immediately.

The parking brake allows a stopped stroller to stay put, without any rolling or twisting. A tether, or wrist strap, keeps the stroller with you at all times. If you are running very fast and happen to lose grip of the stroller, the wrist strap will keep the stroller from getting away from you.

Depending on your budget and needs, you’ll be able to find a double jogging stroller that is right for you. It just takes some research and a little work to find it!

Only respond if you or someone you know has experience with this…..I am only asking so I don’t have to go measure, otherwise that’s my plan!!! Thanks = )
